This was the second grants award under our new thematic approach to provide a more measurable impact. The trustees were delighted to approve 60 grants totalling £283,000; with 10 grants totalling £47,000 for adults in need, 24 grants totalling £85,000 to young people in need, 4 grants totalling £49,000 for hospices, 7 grants totalling £30,000 for mental health support, 11 grants totalling £54,000 for poverty and 4 grants totalling £18,000 for environment and heritage. 34 applications were declined by the trustees. 

Update – One grant for a charity in our adults in need thematic for £5,000 was not paid due to an issue raised by that charity after the trustees meeting. This reduced the total number of grants to 59 totalling £278,000 and the adults in need category to 9 grants totalling £42,000.

The Roger & Douglas Turner Charitable Trust primary aim is to award grants to registered charities that can demonstrate specific charitable work and public benefit in Birmingham, the 4 boroughs of the Black Country (Walsall, Sandwell, Wolverhampton & Dudley), Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Grant funding is provided to registered charities focusing on work in the following 6 thematic areas: adults in need; young people in need; hospices; mental health support; poverty; and environment and heritage.
